LLM Models
Bring your own keys for cloud LLM cleanup and cloud speech-to-text.
The LLM Models screen is where cloud providers and their API keys live. Cloud features are bring-your-own-key (BYOK): you add your own key and pay the provider directly — Ultra Whisper adds no markup and isn't in the data path.
Providers
LLM cleanup
- Groq — fast, low-cost cleanup. The default LLM provider.
- OpenAI — GPT-5 family models.
- Anthropic — Claude models (Haiku / Sonnet).
- Gemini — Google Gemini models.
- DeepSeek — DeepSeek V4.
Cloud speech-to-text
- OpenAI and Groq — each uses one key for both speech-to-text and LLM cleanup.
Enter each provider's key on this screen. Keys are stored securely in your macOS Keychain, never in plain files.
Using a provider in a Profile
Keys are configured here once, then selected per Profile:
- In a Profile, set the LLM Provider and LLM Model to use cleanup.
- Set the Voice Provider to OpenAI or Groq to use cloud speech-to-text.
See Intro to Profiles.
Privacy
With local Whisper and no LLM cleanup, nothing leaves your Mac. When you opt into a cloud provider, only that step's data (audio for cloud speech-to-text, or the transcript for LLM cleanup) is sent directly to that provider under their terms — never through Ultra Whisper's servers.
More providers may be added over time. Some, such as Deepgram, are out of scope for now.
